The Rob Pratte Photo album...

Well the trains are finally running at Rob's house after about a month after my last visit.  Rob is using the MTH DCS Command Control System to operate his trains. The system is performing very well for the large layout and puts in motion a great display of trains.   Email Rob!

This is the "Yard" area of the layout.  It will have a roundhouse and possibly some spurs.  The plan here is in addition to DCS, have a conventional loop to run Postwar and conventional engines.  You can see the looping grade in the background to get trains up and down from the main loops.

A little close look at the connecting loop.  The semi-helix has the ability to get the trains to either upper loop.

A closer look at the helix.  The grade I would say is about 3% to 5%.  A Canadian Pacific negotiates the climb.  A lot of this will be within a tunnel with bridges bring some of the action into view!

Another close look.  Can you believe the majority of this was done without any drawings?  This is the view from the stairs landing.  Nice view eh?

In the family room opposite of where the yard is, the overhead goes multi-level.  An MTH CSX switcher passes under a Conrail consist.

More buildings have been added since the last time I made the trip.  Most of the buildings and accessories are MTH as well as the trains themselves.  This was a big factor on using DCS.  Future plans call for TMCC interfaced with DCS to run Rob's Lionel engines as well.
